Welcome to our family adventure in France.

Our family consists of Francois (dad), Marissa (mom), our 7 year old son Liam, our 3 year old daughter Emma and Francois’ mom, Diane. Today is March 22, 2007 and in 8 days we will be leaving the comforts of our Vernon, BC home to travel to France for a 3 month stay. We will be based in the south of France near the city of Toulouse where we are renting a gite (a furnished vacation home), and a vehicle.

We’ve been planning this trip for about 3 years now and though we originally conceived of going to France for a one year stay, recent circumstances have thwarted that concept and as a result we’ve reduced the expedition to a more manageable three months.

Why France? Well, there are a few reasons, but mostly it boils down to the fact that we have family there and that it is a great central position from which to explore various parts of Europe.

  1. I am planning 3 months in France next year with my Wife and 2 children. We are coming from Australia. How did you find your accomodation? I have found a couple of companies that do mini leases for cars. Is this what you used?

    Thanks.

  2. we did a lease through Peugeot Open Europe and it worked out quite well. The price was about $3500 CA I believe including taxes, insurance, etc for the 3 month period and that was for a Peugeot Partner which is a small SUV.
